Happy Faux Fur Friday!! Debuting in 1929, faux fur was initially made from alpaca wool. More flexibility with color and texture didn’t happen until synthetic fiber became more readily available. While faux fur, also known as neo fur, didn’t “breathe” as well as animal fur, it didn’t require refrigeration to avoid degrading like animal fur. Today, faux fur is often used by designers to accent clothing and in decorating. So, go through your closet and find some faux fur and put it on today in celebration of this special day!
I can’t think of a “pun” about faux fur, so let’s just get right to some UNYAN stuff:
- UNYAN Meeting: Don’t forget our meeting is Monday at 6:32 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy. I’ve attached the agenda and minutes from the last meeting. We a lot on the agenda Monday, including board elections, approval of the budget for 2026 and discussion regarding the HMA report. Please make every effort to attend.
- SEMSCO: The SEMSCO agenda for Tuesday and Wednesday next week is not available yet. As soon as I receive it, I will forward it along.
- California Ambulance Association: The California Ambulance Association produces a very nice publication. I’ve attached it for your reading pleasure!
- Savvik: There have been a bunch of updates to Savvik. I’ve included a copy of a recent email I received from them that included several new website links
- UNYAN Legislation: So far, the only Legislation that has been sent to the Governor is the thruway legislation. If the Governor signs this, ambulances responding to emergency calls will be exempt from thruway tolls. She has until December 12 to sign and/or veto. The two other pieces of legislation UNYAN is following have not been sent to the Governor.
That’s about all I have for this week – but keep an eye out for the SEMSCO agendas. If they keep true to form, they will go out late tonight or first thing Monday morning.
In honor of National Bartenders Day, here is a joke for you:
Two bacteria walk into a bar.
The bartender says, “You can’t be in here. We don’t serve bacteria.”
The bacteria say: “But we work here, we’re staph!”
Even I must admit, that was bad – but it’s the best I’ve got! Have a great weekend and please stay safe.
