Legislative Efforts PDF Print E-mail

The United New York Ambulance Network Strategic Development Committee is charged with recommending the association's Legislative Priorities, coordinating the annual EMS Lobby Day and researching and recommend long term goals and objectives.

UNYAN is a membership driven organization and all decisions regarding Legislative Priorities and long term goals and objectives must be approved by a majority of the membership. Upon approval from the membership, the Strategic Development Committee is charged with working with the Board of Directors and the Association's Legislative Representative, Crane and Vacco, to advance the objectives. Legislative meetings, drafting of position papers and correspondence are just some of the means used by Strategic Development Committee members in advancing the Association's objectives.

The most active of the Association's committees, Strategic Development Committee members are appointed by the United New York Ambulance Network Chairman and serve for an unspecified term.

2010 Mid-Term Election Information

With the 2010 Mid-term Elections over, UNYAN is preparing for Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo to take office in January 2011. During his election campaign, Cuomo published a number of policy books which can be accessed via his campaign website.

His policies regarding Medicaid are in the chapter of the book about "getting the fiscal house in order." Here is a link to the entire as it may be of interest to some to see what else is possibly in store in other issue areas, not just Medicaid.

The general link to all the policy books is http://www.andrewcuomo.com/issues_and_agendahttp://www.andrewcuomo.com/issues_and_agenda.
